FCiências.ID – Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento de Ciências (FC.ID), is a Non-Profit Private Association, created in 2017 as an common initiative of Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) – a Higher Education institution – and 6 private companies, in order to support, potentiate and develop Research and Development (R&D) and innovation activities. FC.ID is the legal representative of 20 research centres, in different scientific fields from Mathematics to Philosophy and History of Sciences. LASIGE (http://www.lasige.di.fc.ul.pt) is one of FCUL research units and performs R&D in the area of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). LASIGE is organized around several Research Lines of Excellence (RLE), among them the Health & Biomedical Informatics RLE – that addresses innovative solutions for processing biological and medical data and for supporting the discovery of new biomedical insights, and Data and Systems Intelligence RLE – that strives to devise innovative solutions for applying artificial intelligence when analysing and reasoning about large‐scale data problems and complex systems. FCUL acts as a third party, following an agreement in force since FC.ID establishment, supplying resources to FCiências.ID to execute its R&D projects.
